“Not only are bloggers suckers for the remarkable, so are the people who read blogs.” - Seth Godin
BOOSTER BYTE 79
Most meetings—especially those making high-stakes decisions—are a competition. The attendees are each trying to sell their position and get what they want or as much of it as they can. Those who arrive unprepared or feel things might go against them, may try hijacking the meeting. They do this by substituting a different topic and claim it is far more important than the one originally assigned to this meeting. Naturally, they are the only one prepared to discuss this new topic. If allowed to continue with such an ambush, they will wrestle control of the entire meeting over to themselves. They immediately jump from being the least prepared to the only one with something valid to contribute. They win by forfeit.
